Exercising at Home - Toning Tips for Summer

This is part of our "exercise at home" section, giving you simple exercises you can do anywhere (not just at home!) in order to achieve a firm toned body

Everyone wants to be ready for summer when it eventually comes. Especially as we all wear less clothing during the summer so we all want to lose weight and toning up our wobbly bits to ensure we look good!
We all want a more toned body, we all want to look good in a swimsuit. Unfortunately it is something that the majority of us have to work hard at to achieve.

So how do we go about toning up for the summer?

Firstly in order to get a toned body is to exercise on a regular basis, actually this is a must. In order to get a more toned body and to help maintain it you need to exercise. Aerobic exercises are the best way to quickly burn fat and lose weight which will help you to tone up. There are different exercises you can do that will help to tone up different parts of your body, for example:

  • Legs - Walking, jogging or attending a step aerobics class will help to tone up the muscles in your legs.
  • Bum - There is only one thing really that helps to tone the bum and that is squats, lots and lots of squats, adding light weights to your wrists means you will see the results even quicker.
  • Thighs - Lunges and leg raise are very good for working your thighs. Try to hold each lunge for at least 5 seconds and increase it as time goes on.
  • Stomach or Abdominal muscles - crunches, leg raises and sit ups are good for toning up your mid section but you can also use moves from yoga and pilates to help strengthen and tighten your core muscles.

Swimming is an excellent exercise for working and toning every muscle group in the body - swimming coupled with the above specific muscle-group exercises will quickly help you achieve your goals.

Next in order to maximise your efforts with all the exercising you are doing you need to make sure you are eating healthily and regularly. Make sure you are eating lots of fruit and vegetables and cut out foods that are high in fats, make up a meal plan for each week you are training and stick with it. As soon as you start to see the results you`ll know it was worth it. This means cutting out alcohol as well, alcohol is empty calories there is no nutritional benefit gained form it what so ever and it will lead to weigh gain. You should also make sure you are fully hydrated, water helps with weight loss and flushes out all the toxins from the body which tend to collate in areas such as the thighs and stomach

If you attack all of the above with a positive attitude, succeeding will be so much easier and achieving the body you have always wanted which combined with flattering swimsuits will make you look your best on any beach. Obviously this will not happen in just days it can sometimes take months of hard work and determination but look at this task with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and you can be certain that you will succeed.
